Mark V LaChapelle

For my dear Brother in Christ.

You'll Always be Missed but Forever Remembered.

For me Mark was like an older brother. All though he was younger, just by months, he just seemed to have all the right answers i needed to hear.

My dear brother Marks untimely departure into eternity with Jesus was both heartbreaking for me as well as devastating to this ministry. You see not only was he my dear brother of almost 30 years, but within those years we had worked together for 15 years, as well as served in our local church for some 10 years, with the most precious memories with his son Alex and my Paul.

I remember when he started sending me donations. I asked him why and he said “I know what you’re doing with it”. Then he told me “you need to get a 501c3” He was responsible for pushing the ministry to that next level. By becoming a Non-Profit, 501c3, tax deductible charity, we believed the more money we could raise, the more people we could help. Thus came the saying “Let’s build the church, not another building” He was a board member and my most faithful supporter, both financially and even more so spiritually. Our telephone conversations would sometimes last for hours, because he moved some time ago to Cincinnati Ohio and I’m in California. These conversations are so hurtfully missed and even more so his faithful prayers as we would try to never to say “Good bye” only “see you later”. Because of him, one thing he always would tell me is “ The home church in Jamaica first (see the goals page) as well as, meeting the needs of others. “ And my favorite “no matter how big it gets or how small it is, keep doing what you’re doing”.

At the time of his departure was also the time for Sherman Grants arrival here in the US. Mark was partly responsible for Sherman’s first time to leave Jamaica and come here to the US. Upon arriving here in Ca only to catch a flight to Cincinnati to say good- by to our dear brother. Who unfortunately never got to meet in person. JESUS says, “His ways our beyond our understanding.” And yes, I will never understand this. JESUS also said, “All things work together for the good”. This was flying out and spending a short but wonderful time with Mark’s remarkable son Alex, and seeing his grandfather and heart felt hospitality of his two sisters and their families. Thank you all for making my dear brothers passing a loving and memorial one..
